Samsung is expected to announce the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the next eight weeks and a new report sheds light on what’s going on behind the scenes right now in preparation for launch.
Samsung launches production of Galaxy Z Fold 3
WinFuture reports that today Samsung started mass production of the components that will be used inside the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3. The timeline corroborates recent rumors of a late July or August release. Samsung is said to be forecasting relatively low numbers during the mass production phase. The total volume is about a third of what Samsung typically orders for more traditional smartphones like the Galaxy S21 or Galaxy S20 FE.
This could be related to the relative lack of appeal of the product. Foldable smartphones are still niche products, despite Samsung’s best efforts, and that won’t change overnight.
Much of this is due to the retail price, rather than the form factor itself. Foldable displays are extremely expensive to manufacture, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will likely cost close to $ 2,000 at launch.
In addition, WinFuture reports that Samsung The Galaxy Z Flip 3 has yet to go into production. Nevertheless, an announcement is still expected this summer alongside the larger Fold 3.
The compact Galaxy z flip 3 should target a larger audience thanks to its significantly lower price and wide range of colors. It is currently one of the best new phones expected in 2021.
Underscreen camera, S Pen support and more
As mentioned above, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be very expensive when it hits the shelves. So what will it offer for the money other than a foldable screen? Well, if the rumors are true, there are a lot of them. One of the most exciting technologies will be integrated under the large foldable display – an on-screen camera. The associated technology has yet to be incorporated into widely available products, so its presence on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could drive adoption.
If the reviews are positive and no major issues are encountered, the underscreen cameras could potentially spill over to other Samsung smartphones. the The Galaxy S22 would be a great candidate, but it could be a risky decision.
Another highlight of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 should be its S Pen support. The latter was previously reserved for the Galaxy Note range, but in 2021 Samsung is making it much more widely available.
Of course, all of this will be combined with the latest internal technology. Expect to find Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 inside and at least 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage. However, there will be no support for the microSD card.
Package completion is set to be Support 25W fast charging, 4380mAh battery and Android 11 right out of the box with the promise of updates to Android 12, Android 13 and Android 14.
