Rally organized in Miami Gardens to show support for Haitian migrants

MIAMI GARDENS, Florida – A rally was held Sunday in South Florida in support of Haitian refugees.

Local leaders including Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava joined attendees at Bethel Evangelical Baptist Church in Miami Gardens.

They demand an immediate end to the expulsion of Haitian migrants.

The Haitian national anthem kicked off the rally and prayer service late Sunday afternoon.

Videos and images of Haitian migrants by the thousands in Del Rio, Texas at the border were heartbreaking to watch.

Over the weekend, new footage showed what appeared to be another humanitarian crisis in the Bahamas.

“The president must reverse the policy of the previous administration which authorized these mass expulsions, slow down the situation and provide humanitarian aid,” said Levine Cava.

The footage in Del Rio of US border patrol agents using horses and ropes to lock up black Haitian migrants still elicits a great sense of pain and anger.
