Opening of the auditions for the production of Sidekick Players

Auditions will take place on Monday, October 24 and Tuesday, October 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre.

Sidekick Players audition again. This time it’s for the second production of the season, Outside Mullingar by John Patrick Shanley, directed by Cathy Collis.

Outside Mullingar is about the romance of Anthony and Rosemary, neighbors in rural Ireland who are approaching middle age. The production is poetic, uplifting, dark and funny as hell. Anthony is an introverted farmer and Rosemary is the woman who swears to have him at all costs. When Anthony’s father threatens to disinherit his son, Rosemary finds herself in the midst of a land dispute and family eccentricities beyond anyone’s imagination.

The casting requirements are two women and two men.

The characters are, Rosemary Muldoon, 30-50 years old, Anthony Reilly, 30-50 years old, Aoife Muldoon, 60-70 years old, and Tony Reilly, 60-70 years old. Irish accents are required for all cast members.

Auditions will take place on Monday, October 24 and Tuesday, October 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre. The auditions will be in person and a cold reading of the sides of the script. The scripts are available at the Vancouver Library for consultation.

If you are interested in auditioning, please send resume and photo to [email protected] with subject line ‘Mullingar’.

This is a community theater production and all work involved would be on a voluntary basis.

Rehearsals will take place on Tuesday evening/Thursday evening/Sunday afternoon, starting November 8. There will be a short break over Christmas, with rehearsals starting again on January 3.

Outside Mullingar will be presented at the Tsawwasen Arts Center from January 26, 2023 to February 11.
