OEDIT to host second outdoor recreation virtual trade mission to Canada



DENVER – Colorado’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade will host a virtual trade mission to Canada throughout June, focused on the growth of the state’s outdoor recreation industry.

Throughout the month, businesses will learn about the Canadian outdoor recreation market and participate in one-on-one meetings with potential buyers and partners.

“The new reality of online virtual trade shows means being able to introduce Colorado businesses to more vendors and businesses than individual shows that sellers might not have attended in person,” Michelle said. Hadwiger, Director of Global Business Development at OEDIT. “We look forward to the new business and export opportunities offered by this event. ”

Nathan Fey, Office Manager of the Outdoor Recreation Industry, added, “Outdoor recreation is a vital part of Colorado’s economy and our quality of life. The outdoor recreation economy accounted for 2.1%, or $ 459.8 billion, of U.S. GDP in 2019. In Colorado, that number jumps to 3.1% of Colorado’s GDP and supports nearly 150,000 jobs in our state. The exposure of our Colorado-based manufacturers to international markets has a real impact on Colorado’s outdoor economy, supporting good jobs and strong local communities.

Eight Colorado companies joined the virtual mission to further expand their brands into the Canadian market:

Fast, packaged and tasty, Cusa Tea & Coffee is ideal for rushed mornings, business trips, outdoor excursions, or whenever you want. might need a little boost or a soothing refreshment in a hurry. Over the past year, the product has been picked up by a multitude of retailers and is available in approximately 750 stores.

Rob and Tania met in college and have since traveled the country and the world in search of great adventures and interesting food. A few years ago, they settled in the Montagne du Sud-Ouest, where fly fishing, skiing and chili abound. FishSki Provisions was created to share their passions for southwest mountain food, fly fishing and skiing. They are called FishSki because over 3% of their sales are spent on local conservation or recreational access projects that protect or enhance local fishing and skiing resources. They hope their food will inspire customers to eat bolder and be more adventurous. FishSki is based in Boulder, Colorado.

Grass sticks

Grass Sticks is located in Steamboat Springs, CO and was started there in a garage in 2014 by engineer turned skier / trainer / instructor Andrew Beckler. By skiing over 100 days a year, we got fed up with our ugly, twisted, twisted and broken poles. There is no reason to throw in 3 pairs of poles per season, so we decided to make our own. They develop ski poles and bamboo paddles.

Tools For Trails was born after years of finding tools from a variety of suppliers for various trail construction projects. On the way back from a road trip to New Mexico, the two guys decided it was time to create an online store for all the must-have project tools available at one stop, narrowing down the wide selection of ‘tools for building trails to meet just needs.
