NBC Sports uses Avid’s media production and storage solution for its Winter Olympics production
STAMFORD, Conn., Feb. 16 28, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — NBC Sports has selected Avid to provide media creation and storage solutions for its production of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games, from Beijing, China, February 2-20. The announcement was made today by Darryl Jefferson, Vice President of Publishing Operations and Digital Workflow, NBC Sports & Olympics, and Jeff Rosica, CEO and President of Avid.
NBCUniversal provides coverage of the 2022 Winter Olympics from February 2-20, with a Winter Olympics record of more than 2,800 hours of coverage on NBC, Peacock, USA Network, CNBC, NBCOlympics.com and the NBC Sports app. The Opening Ceremony aired Friday, February 4, live in the morning and again in prime time on NBC and Peacock. Similar to the recent Winter Games, NBC’s primetime Olympic coverage began the day before the Opening Ceremony on Thursday, February 3. Coverage began Wednesday, February 2 on USA Network and Peacock. NBCUniversal presents its 18and Olympic Games, 12and consecutive overall and sixth consecutive Winter Games, the most by any US media company.
For more than two decades, NBC Sports has used Avid’s award-winning technology to deliver cutting-edge coverage to viewers across the United States. NBC Sports broadcast teams will use Avid’s MediaCentral platform, Media Composer editing software and shared storage solutions from its international broadcast center in Stamford, Connecticut to drive production workflows remotely and on site for its production on several platforms.
