The Hopatcong School District Drama Production is moving indoors due to the high risk of rain which could have severely limited the number of shows.
What started out as a brilliant idea on how to make sure the show has to continue this year by creating an outdoor production on the soccer field has been wiped out by mother nature and the likely risk of rain.
The good news is that failure is not an option for this hard-working team of teachers and students, who will spend Memorial Day building the new auditorium interior ensemble. Subsequently, the sound will be integrated on Tuesday, just for the final dress rehearsal on Wednesday.
The production under the direction of Professor Michael Batche (advisor / producer), Kerri Batche (director) and music director Kurt Zimmerman (Pit Orchestra and vocals) decided on Sunday evening to move indoors to ensure they can get all the productions on time without worrying about what Mother Nature had in store for the show.
“I couldn’t be prouder of these kids, we have already worked them to the point of exhaustion building the outdoor stage, and now they are eagerly kicking in and ditching their vacation weekend to move everything to inside. Michael Batche said.
For indoor performance, certain requirements will apply:
- Masks are mandatory for all performances. The actors will be wearing masks backstage, but not for the show.
- Thursday June 3rd the show is limited to 200 people (restriction lifted on Friday).
- Social distancing in the audience is not required.
