EXCLUSIVE: Filipino actress and singer Lovi Poe started her own production company called C’est Lovi Productions.
The company will place particular emphasis on bringing Filipino stories and artists to the international market and already has plans in the works.
They understand Lady Luck, written by Los Angeles-based duo Geordie Kieffer and Mitchell Tole, which Poe is set to star in. British director Niall Johnson (White noise) is attached to direct. The feature is currently in pre-production.
Other projects in development include the psychological thriller Alyssa which Filipino filmmaker Jerrold Tarog is attached to write and direct. Tarog’s past credits include the 2016 Filipino-American war drama General Luna and the acquisition of Netflix Gogo: the general boy.
Montgomery Blencowe (The prince, Flight) will partner with Poe as a leader of the company.
Poe is the daughter of late Filipino legends Fernando Poe Jr and Susan Roces and has built a thriving career in her own right.
She comes out of a slew of Filipino projects that have also garnered international attention, including the Filipino adaptation of the Korean drama Flower of Evil and romantic comedy Sleep with me which premiered at Outfest in Los Angeles in July, winning the Audience Award for Best Episode.
The actress also recently signed a contract with ABS-CBN Corporation, the first network in the Philippines.
Poe will also soon be seen in her biggest English role yet, alongside Alex Pettyfer and Poppy Delevingne, in Ben Cookson’s The Chelsea Cowboyabout the larger-than-life character of British actor and bodyguard John Blindon.
Poe is replaced in the United States by More/Medavoy Management and in the Philippines by LVD Management.
