Get Closer Than Ever is is an amazing place to see animals up close! They have big, open spaces where the animals can roam, so you can really see them in their natural habitat. You can get super close to the animals, like standing a few feet from a lion or watching monkeys swing above you. It's awesome! They also have lots of places where you can feed the animals, like giraffes and penguins. It's so much fun! There are tons of paths to walk on, so you can explore and see all sorts of animals. And if you want to learn more, the zookeepers are always happy to answer questions. The zoo is the perfect place to have an amazing day with your family and see some incredible animals!

I went to Kobe not because of the famous beef but this animal kingdom. The capybaras are all super cute and adorable. They are not afraid of human at all. So chill. Had such a great time there. And you can pet some of the animals. If you like nature and animals. This is the place you must visit.

We stopped in after seeing this pop up on Google. It’s a wonderful nature center/ zoo right off the train with a variety of animals from all over the world. Some definitely seemed out of place for the season (it was hot and the bears and wolves were panting), but overall very well constructed for a visit! I would say some animals could use a bit more room (like the tapirs), but overall they all looked well cared for and the keepers were all happy and helpful. The shoebill was indeed a sight to see! Very unique. So were the close encounters with the red panda, macaw, and the river otters. It wasn’t too busy and while there were many parents with kids, I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend for adults and kids alike. Takes about a leisurely 2-3 hours or a quick hour of walking quickly to explore.

Definitely recommend for parents to bring their kids. I came here by myself and had fun! It’s not big but saw some interesting animals!PS. If you want to get up close and touch rabbit/dogs/cats you gotta book your spot. These spots only open for booking during certain hours.

Mix feelings about this place. There’s both good and bad from my visit.Good:The birds and small mammals areas are very well-done. Free flight, setting them into the enclosure which is close to their habitat etc. Seeing animals without a cage is a treat.Bad:1. Same feelings as others have mentioned. The bigger mammals area is kind of sad. Seeing wolves and tiger in a place which is even smaller than some birds enclosure without enough enrichment is frustrating. They are amazing animals and could’ve have a very different display than seeing them lying on the floor.2. I noticed “angel wing” condition on several teals (one is especially serious). I asked a staff if they are aware, and they said they do. This is even more frustrating since angel wing is caused due to nutrition issue, and this teal is still in the pond and receiving all the feed from visitors rather than having a precise diet. I don’t know where to ask about more details, but if someone from animal kingdom saw this, I really would love to know more about how the treatment is in your zoo.

This is not about visiting zoo but more of being part of it. Some little cute animals do not stay behind the glass and they would walk pass you. You even have a chance to feed them as wall.

It's a highly enjoyable and interactive place that we highly recommend for families with young children. You'll have numerous opportunities to touch and interact with the animals. When we visited on a Monday, it wasn't too crowded, so we didn't need to obtain a waiting card for a specific time slot. However, there were still lines for some animal interactions. We were pleased to find multiple sinks available for handwashing after touching the animals, which we found to be a considerate touch.

Great zoo where some animals are freely moving around . You can feed some of then such as the capybaras or kangourou. Went there on monday morning and so not many people at that time and no queue either at the entrance or at the various activities such as feeding / touching the animals. I understood that there are some numbered tickets distributed on site for some events certainely when there is a lot of people.

Not a bad Zoo by Japanese standards (Ueno zoo was terrible), but still not great. Many of the animals had enclosures that were extremely small and lacked enrichment. Some of those animals off the top of my head were:- Serval (see pictures)- Sand cat- Tapir- Cougar- Wild pig- Raccoon (yes, a trash panda)Those animals looked very sad and stressed, or were just pacing their small space back and forth.I did like how the zoo had lots of vegetation in many of the areas, and many animals did have more suitable living environments (birds had much more freedom and space, as did the red pandas, see pictures).

This zoo was one of the best zoos I’ve been to! There are many areas to interact with the animals and you can also feed them. The food to give to the animals cost around ¥100 which is about 63 cents ( 1 USD is about 157 yen right now). They also have lockers to keep your stuff.

I heard they had Shoebills in Kobe and had to come see. Sure enough they had a few wondering out and about. They were so close and quite intimidating walking about like they owned the place. The zoo is very nice with lots of animals to look at and feed. They had Cappybara, pinguins, alpacas, raccoons, and many more. Some animals you could pet and feed but be sure to keep an eye for which ones. Hopefullt luck is on your side as each animal has a feeding limit and staff will make sure the animals don't over eat.It is not a long journey to get to the zoo from Osaka. Just a train ride, hop trains and you are there. The entrance is right outside the train station! Train is ludicrously quite so the animals never heard them. I forgot the station was out there as well.It was a Great day trip and hopefully can come back next time I in Kobe. Maybe next time I can take a close up photo with the raccoons

ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! We visited 3 different zoos during our Japan trip but this is our favourite!! You can get really up & close to the animals sometimes as you walk around the different habitats & there were plenty to see. Many interactive elements such as the rabbit petting & dog+cat petting (this one is really popular so if you're close to the timeslot, do queue as they only let 20 pax in at each time for approx 10mins). You get to feed the animals during feeding time and prices were reasonable. We really enjoyed ourselves here! Ps do claim your stamp at the main entrance counter if you're collecting those!

Fully sheltered from the weather condition and enjoyable place along with Port Liner in Kobe is here!Suitable for family, pair and also photographer, small animals and aquatic plants are exhibited, some one could be touched with them.Nobody would be disappointed when visited, but it's better to bring lunch by yourself priorly because of crowdness. It's convenient with the Port Liner until get there, but quite spacious inside the Garden so you might get tired. You may kill time half a day at least.

Saw tons of animals and they were all so adorable! I didn’t manage to get any tickets for the interactive areas, but all’s good. Do expect lots of school children and families, so crowds are to be expected. The capybara bun from one of the cafes is adorable.

A place good for family. Clean and looks like animals are happy. Except some animals in the cages. Also, you must go to feed the seals. You can also touch the cats and dogs. Can lunch at park. The food is delicious than expected.Toilet is clean. Place is clean. Service is good.

Great for english speakers! Really cool animal park where you get to walk amongst the animals. Make sure you buy tickets online and look at the schedule to see what animal feedings are when.Easy to get to by rail, tickets are a bit overpriced but the experience is great. Good for families, kids and travelers wanting to see some different animals

One of the best zoos I have been in. Most of the rooms are open so animals are free to roam around like the birds. I came here for the shoebill and capybara. You can feed the capybara. Some animals look a bit sad like the camel and mini horses. I wish they had more room to roam around in.

For the price I got more than I bargained for. It was great, and it's so rare you get that any opportunities to interact with animals. The reason I don't give it 5 stars is the cages are just so small, and it hurts to see the animals pacing around in discomfort. I'd be happy with less exhibits if we had happier animals

I am an artist who's passionate about paintings related to the themes of love, hope, and dreams. As such, I love looking for inspiration from different places. As my daughter loves animals, we've visited many zoos in Asia and Europe but I had never been inspired by any of them. Every one of them always looked dirty and ill-maintained, and as a result, the animals looked inactive and bored and were asleep most of the time. Moreover, there were always barriers, cages, and gaps between us and the animals. As a result, I lost interest in visiting zoos in general. However, this zoo completely changed my perspective. Even though it's relatively small in size, after two hours of wandering around with beautiful animals passing by with nothing separating us, we didn't want to leave! We were so surprised that all the animals looked happy, clean, and were very active. They even seemed to love posing for pictures! My artistic instincts drew inspiration from the animals. They demonstrated pure happiness, kindness and love for each other. Two pink flamingos were the highlight of the day, as the couple posed together to form a heart shape.I wonder how the staff treats the animals to keep them happy and contented in their little kingdom? I hope the same care and love would be given to all animals.- Fang
