Does Lowrance Hook Reveal 9 have maps? ›

Medium CHIRP or 83kHz—Specifically designed to give the widest coverage area, 83 kHz is ideal for watching a bait under the transducer in shallow water. High CHIRP or 200kHz—Higher frequencies display a higher resolution image making it easy to discern fish from structure or structure from the bottom.

For the Hook Reveal 7, you will need a C-MAP DISCOVER card or a C-MAP REVEAL card. Add the card to your cart and checkout. Once you have received your card, insert it into the SD card slot on your Hook Reveal 7. The unit will automatically load the maps from the card.

The chirp may have a positive frequency slope with time (up-chirp) or a negative frequency slope with time (down-chirp). There is no inherent advantage to one with respect to the other, except that the receiver needs to be matched to the proper waveform.

The traditional non-Chirp sonar performs adequately in such scenarios, revealing brush piles and fish, albeit with less clarity compared to its Chirp counterpart. Chirp transducers, however, elevate the game with advanced capabilities, yielding superior results.

CHIRP stands for “Compressed High Intensity Radar Pulse.” That's a fancy way of saying it will show you those fish that standard sonars can't.

Chartplotters will often come with sonar fishfinders built in, but they are primarily about maps. What is a fishfinder? A fishfinder is a sonar device. There are a range of different frequencies, clarity and sensitivity that produce and interpret sonar signals and graphically present them as fish.

What is the microSD card in a Lowrance hook reveal for? ›

Genesis Live gives anglers the capability to create custom ½-foot contour maps of their local lake or uncharted water – in real time – on the screen of HOOK Reveal displays. Genesis Live maps can also be created and saved on HOOK Reveal non-mapping GPS plotters by placing a blank microSD card into the card slot.

Anyone who needs Satellite maps or 3-D shading will want to stick with C-Map. For most uses, which is primarily fishing and cruising around, Navionics more than suffices.

C-MAP® DISCOVER OnBoard™ inland and coastal charts are embedded in all HDS PRO and Elite FS displays and bundled as an SD card with select Eagle models.
