AMT Theater is launching a new Off-Broadway venue with the inaugural production, An UNBALANCED MIND.

New York’s All-New Off-Broadway Theater Presents Its First Full Production, An Unbalanced

Opening of the mind on July 24. An unbalanced mind is a musical review exploring the original music of Al

Tapper, ranging from pastiche-style songs from the golden age of musicals, to up-and-coming pop ballads,

and foot-tapping dance numbers. Freely inspired by his life, the musical numbers of the review are

paired with quirky monologues that highlight poignant anecdotal moments from Tapper

long creative career. Many hummable songs are taken from musical collaborations

with Tony Sportiello of AMT, enhanced for this production by new musical arrangements by

David Wolfson. The light review is edited by Kelli Maguire (SessionsAn evening at

Carlyle, Oklahoma Nat’l Tour).

An unbalanced mind features the talents of several usual suspects from Tapper’s prequel

productions, including Gil Brady, who starred in Tapper’s National Pastime. Reunion with him

is LR Davidson, who revisits the numbers she originated both in the national pastime and in the paparazzi.

Dana Aber, seen in Tony Sportiello and David Wolfson’s award-winning musical, makes her Off-Broadway debut with this show. The betand Josh Pryam of Brooklyn’s 350 Productions.

The show’s anchor as the affable narrator is Michael Reilly (National Pastime & The Arrangement).

The freshly renovated AMT Theater on 45th Street and 9th Avenue is focused on developing new

works, both their own productions and through rental partnerships. Ideally located in

Hell’s Kitchen next to Schmackary’s Cookies, AMT was built to cultivate the community of

a regional theater in the middle of New York. The AMT also runs a theater program for young people and

summer theater camp led by Mary Lauren.

An unbalanced mindis AMT Theater’s inaugural production. Music Director David Wolfson

conducts a 5-piece orchestra including Greg Landes, Ken Rizzo, Justin Rothberg and Noelle

Rueschman. The production team includes Lori Robinson (assistant director), Danielle Diniz

(choreographer), Tamara Flannagan (technical director), Rocky Noel (light/sound designer),

Josh Iacovelli (set designer), Brent Michael Jones (production manager), Tylar Traum

(assistant manager) and Cathy Small (costumes).

An unbalanced mind opens on Sunday July 24, until August. Operating time, 2 h. All shows at 7 p.m. At the AMT Theater, 354 W 45th St. For tickets or more information, visit
